Ohoy people,
I've had a rough few days. Like, really rough. Too rough, in fact. Caught a stomach bug on last Friday, thought it was only vomiting.. Ended up in hospital for three days. Gonna explain some more, but as a disclamer;
IF YOU HAVE PROBLEM WITH GROTESQUE LOOKING BRUISES, NEEDLES AND CANNULAS, PLEASE BE WARNED THAT THIS POST WILL HAVE SUCH PICTURES.
Alright, so. I mentioned I had a stomach bug. Diabetics usually have to go to the hospital to get an IV and some liquids in them, maybe for a day or so. I was feeling horrible, so I visited our central hospital on Tuesday, after being told to visit them by a nurse whom I gave a call to. I went there, just to find out that my ketone levels were off the roof. Similar thing happened in London, so I was pretty certain I would have to spend the night, and that basically made me super sad already. Then, they took me to the ER hospital wing, and told me they needed a blood sample from my artery on my right hand. I can tell you, I never ever EVER have experienced such pain in my whole life. I cried and screamed, prayed.. Apparently my mother heard me to the other side of the hospital as well. After that was done, I was certain that the worst was behind me, just to be told that my blood was literally sour, the pH has went below the normal. That meant at least two days in the hospital and a huge load of examinations. I was devastated.
I ended up with a cannula in my left wrists artery, my right hands backside ( with three IVs stuck to it ) and later on, another one on the crook of my left arm. The first night was a hell. They woke me up every hour, to take some blood from the cannula in my artery, and after doing so, they always flushed the cannula, which I could feel through the vein in my thumb. It was like a burning sensation, switching into a cold one. It wasn't pleasant. They had huge problems with my vitals, and the doctor told me that if things continued like this, I might really die. That's when I paniced. Thankfully they managed to fix the situation.
In the span of the next few days, I managed to get better. Slowly they started giving me food and removing the cannulas. Finally, on thursday, they let me home. Its been rough even after, I've mostly slept every day. But all this made me re-evaluate my life and pay more mind to my health. I certainly don't want to go back there ever, or even for a long while.
I'm sorry about the small hiatus, and I'm sorry for this quick, unpleasant update. Thank you for reading, if you did. Stay classy.
